Meaningful Refresh for Central Community Church

Central Community Church Begins Major Facility Update

If you’ve driven down Maple between West and Ridge Streets recently, you may have noticed something missing at Central Community Church: the sloped glass façade that has greeted congregants and passersby for more than 35 years is no longer there.

Originally designed to last about 20 years, the glass entry had clearly outlived its prime. Over time, it became increasingly difficult to maintain and was no longer serving the building or the congregation in the way it once had. And with Wichita experiencing its third-wettest June on record, every rain shower brought new leaks and water damage to the interior of the church.

Throughout the month of June, construction crews have carefully and systematically been dismantling and removing the glass façade, one panel at a time. Over the coming months, they will install a new roofline that complements the design of the adjoining Chapel. While the glass may have been a familiar sight for many, this next chapter is focused on preserving the integrity of the facility and supporting the ministry that happens within its walls.
