Conco was also awarded the prestigious 2018 AGC Safety Award of Excellence at the AGC Awards Lunch last week. Conco was identified as the leader in jobsite safety and culture for firms with 250,000-400,000 man hours. We are thankful for the hard work of our safety committee and our Safety Manager Dennis Kalp. Through their leadership the safety culture on our jobsites continues to rise! Our safety record shows how seriously all Conconians take the safety and wellbeing of all people on our jobsites! We’re excited to roll out more initiatives and priorities for safety in 2019 so be on the lookout at Safety Day in just a few weeks! Congratulations and great work!

AGC Award of Excellence: Uptown Landing

Bill Ramsey

The Conco Construction family was well represented at the AGC Awards Lunch last Friday where our team took home an Award of Excellence for the recently completed Uptown Landing project. This project was identified as one of the premier new construction builds in the state during 2018! We are thankful for the Uptown Landing ownership group, the design team at Spangenberg Phillips Tice Architecture, and all of our partners who made this project a success! This is truly a team award and exemplifies the effort and skill of our entire organization. Great job and congratulations team Conco!

Botanica Carousel

Work continues on the Botanica Carousel Project here in Wichita! Steel arrived on site early on January 21st and our crews immediately began putting it in the air. The building is octagonal in shape with a compression ring and the top and a tension ring around the perimeter. Our iron work crews have done a fantastic job to date on a tough and unique project! Think about it, how many buildings can you name that are shaped like a stop sign? Check out these pictures:

Project Update: Viega ProPress II Metal Fittings Expansion

Rachel Hauber

It’s been a busy month so far at our Viega project in McPherson! It’s not every day we have a 900 ton crane on site like we did last week to set all of the rooftop units on the ProPress II building. The crane was so large it took 26 truckloads to haul the parts in to assemble it and once complete it could be seen from 5 miles away!

Our crews are making great progress and should have the building enclosed by next week. We’ve been fortunate to have good December weather that helped us in completing Viega Avenue, the main entrance to the Viega complex. We are looking forward to planning an additional logistics building and will keep you updated on our progress!

Conco Food Drive + Kansas Food Bank Volunteer Center Progress

Rachel Hauber

We are excited to share the fantastic results of our food drive benefiting the Kansas Food Bank! As a result of the generosity of our office and field staff as well as Conco partners we were able to deliver 732 pounds of donated food recently. Conco matched that contribution with an additional $750 donation. Thank you so much to everyone that participated, we are so proud of our team and are already looking forward to next year’s food drive with a goal to donate over 1,000 pounds of food to those in need in our community!

Despite the cold weather our crews are making great progress on Kansas Food Bank’s new volunteer center! Check out this bird’s eye view of some of the foundation work!

Project Kickoff: Central Community Church Chapel

Rachel Hauber

Our crews started work on the Chapel at Central Community Church last week! This project is the first phase of the future Central Landing community planned for the church. Conco has worked with SPT Architecture and the church for many months to plan and design this project and everyone is excited to see demolition begin and construction to follow. By this time next year the church will have a new chapel venue to celebrate weddings and special events!

Project Kickoff: Botanica Carousel

Rachel Hauber

We are thrilled to share we recently celebrated the groundbreaking for the Botanica Carousel project! Many of you may remember the historic carousel that used to be a fan favorite at Joyland. Its owner generously donated the merry-go-round, which is one of only five remaining Allan Herschell Carousels in the world, and it will be housed in a pavilion within the Botanica grounds. We will keep you updated as work progresses on this special project!
