Project Spotlight: Cowley College Sumner Campus

Rachel Hauber

We’re excited to share the new Cowley College Sumner Campus located on 18 acres in Wellington recently completed construction! This project included the design of a large outdoor student gathering plaza connecting the two initial buildings. The Short General Education Center is a 24,000 square foot, three-story building and is the hub of the campus. The campus bookstore is located here, as well as a main dining area, student gathering and social area, tutoring and student resource, classrooms, lecture spaces, faculty offices, conference rooms, and a large community room.

The Technology and Innovation Center (shown below) is a 17,000 square foot pre-engineered building housing instructional spaces for information technology, agriculture and welding. An accelerated design-build schedule meant that less than 18 months after beginning design, the College began teaching in their new facility. We were honored to partner with Agora Architecture and Cowley College to create this campus!

Project Spotlight: Fidelity Bank Headquarters 3rd & 4th Floor Remodel

Rachel Hauber

Renovations are complete for the 3rd and 4th floor of Fidelity Bank’s Headquarters in downtown Wichita! We began the remodel project last fall, working the night shift for three months during the demo and sheetrock phases to to try and minimize any disruption for their staff. The project focused on removing walls in order to provide a more open space to house additional employees. We also enlarged the call center, both restrooms on the 3rd floor and we tripled the size of their break room. Check out their corridors that are lined with wall covering graphics of downtown Wichita!

Project Spotlight: R&J Discount Liquor

Rachel Hauber

We’re proud to share photos of our recently completed renovation for R&J Liquor on east Douglas. We partnered with GLMV for the project that included adding 2,600 square feet of retail space and an entry vestibule, along with a complete renovation of the remaining store. Superintendent Paul Cumblidge did an excellent job of coordinating with the owner. This was critical, as our team kept the store open throughout all phases of the remodel and new parking lot. Take a look at the transformation!

Project Spotlight: Thrasher

Rachel Hauber

We recently completed an extensive remodel for Thrasher, a local basement and foundation repair company! The project was split into two phases starting with their warehouse, and finishing up with their office. The nearly 33,000 square foot building has plenty of room for their company to grow and develop in the Wichita area and we hope to work alongside Thrasher on projects in the future!

Project Update: Vornado Warehouse Expansion

Rachel Hauber

Conco concrete crews recently placed and finished 60,000 square feet of slab on grade for the Vornado Warehouse Expansion in a single pour. Getting 1,100 cubic yards of concrete on the ground in 7 hours requires great vendors, seamless planning and fantastic team work. The pour started at midnight on Thursday and finishing crews worked through most of Friday. Structural steel will be starting next week and we have another 45,000 square foot pour coming up soon.

Project Update: Botanica Carousel

Rachel Hauber

In spite of the rain our crews have been making progress on the Botanica Carousel building! Roof glass, storefront and overhead doors are being installed now in preparation for the carousel to arrive in early June. The carousel crew will work to assemble the nearly 100 year old machine as our team puts the finishing touches on the building. Once we’re finished with the building we will turn our attention to the site and the nearly 30,000 square feet of sidewalks that need to be placed! A lot left to do but our team is moving quick!

Project Kickoff – Fidelity Bank RISE: A Beacon of Progress

Rachel Hauber

We are so excited and honored to share the announcement of Fidelity Bank’s new expansion plan! The project includes a 505-stall Car Park and 10-story Tower and will take place in two phases. Construction will begin with the Car Park, a private parking garage for Fidelity employees that will also include 17,000 square feet of retail space. Phase two includes construction of a 135,000 square foot Tower, including a large rooftop green space, as well as a sky bridge connecting the two buildings. We are proud to partner with Fidelity Bank and Shelden Architecture and are looking forward to breaking ground soon!

Project Update: Central Community Church Chapel

Rachel Hauber

Things are moving right along at the Central Community Church Chapel. As you can see, Conco crews are currently working on stone and brick veneer. The beginning of June will bring paving, sidewalks and paver work, with landscaping to follow to complete the site work around the building.

Finishes on the inside have also begun, which will include a significant amount of specialty tile and also a unique wood panel ceiling system that covers the 50 foot tall ceilings in the main area of the wedding chapel. Stay tuned for additional photos of the exterior wedding courtyard on the north side of the new chapel!
