Project Update: Wichita Airport Authority Terminal Demolition

Rachel Hauber

After several months of utility relocations and interior salvage work, exterior demolition of the old Wichita airport terminal is officially underway! Over the next several months our team will be working on the structure demolition and backfill. Roughly 14,000 square feet of the west end of the building will remain in place. We will work throughout the summer to complete a full exterior renovation of this remaining building as well as an interior tenant finish on the 1st floor. After completion of demo, concrete paving will begin. This will allow the airport to add an additional airline gate on the new terminal. We’re excited to move forward on this project!

Project Kickoff: Tommy’s Car Wash

Rachel Hauber

We recently kicked off a unique project in west Wichita that will be the future home of Tommy’s Car Wash! A new franchise to the Wichita area, Tommy’s Express Car Wash is known around the country for the quality of their car wash equipment which allows them to give you a quality wash with minimal human interaction. The building’s exterior finishes will set it apart among competitors with its bright red metal panels and its arched stainless steel entry and exit. Along with the car wash, there will be several vacuum stations installed that will be free to use with a purchase of a wash! We’re excited to get this project moving and will be pouring foundation in the near future!

Project Update: ICM

Rachel Hauber

Our team is hard at work at ICM in Colwich, with around 250 people on site working to have the plant operational by mid-summer. Production has recently begun on the lower level of the Wood Chip Building, a large facility with 30 inch thick walls on two sides and a wall height of 30 feet in several areas. We will also be starting the scrubber, acid containment and gasifier foundations in the next month. We will continue to keep you updated as we work toward completion!

Progress Update: Viega Logistics, ProPress II and Tool Room

Rachel Hauber

It’s been a busy few months since we last updated you on our work at Viega in McPherson. Crews are currently working on the floors and office area and are starting the site paving process for the ProPress II building. Work is progressing on the Tool Room and both it and the ProPress building will be complete by mid summer. As you can see in the photos below our crews recently completed pile foundations for the Logistics building. We’re also working on a loading dock expansion and office addition. We appreciate all the hard work our team is putting in and look forward to sharing more photos as more of the complex is completed this summer!

Wichita Children’s Home In Honor of Steve Hatchett

Bill Ramsey

The Conco team was honored and excited to share the new coping room at the Wichita Children’s Home with the Hatchett family last week! Conco enjoyed a long, close relationship with Steve Hatchett who had a passion to help children in the Wichita area. In honor of Steve, Conco renovated a room at the Wichita Children’s Home to give children in crisis a place to find peace and comfort. The room looks, feels and smells like a cabin in the woods complete with a front porch, wood picnic table and scenic views. Opportunities like this help us all remember that life is precious and sharing our blessings is so important!

Project Update: Kansas Food Bank

Bill Ramsey

Our crews worked through the frigid temperatures this week to set the tilt-up panels for the Kansas Food Bank project! The project is challenging due to the integration of the structural steel and the tilt-up panels. The steel and panels must be erected in a specific sequence so that the structural integrity is protected. On Tuesday our drone operator was able to catch our teams in action as they placed several of the tilt-up panels. We are excited to see this project progress! The finished building will provide much needed space for the Kansas Food Bank as it continues its mission to provide food for those in need!

Ascension Via Christi: Blessing and Dedication

Bill Ramsey

Conco was honored to be part of the blessing and grand opening of the Ascension/Via Christi Project Renewal at St. Joseph this week. The community came together to celebrate many years of planning, fund raising, construction and training all focused on providing the best behavioral health care in the region. Conco played a significant role in several different aspects of the journey. Recognizing the importance of behavioral and mental health in our community we donated over $80,000 to Project Renewal. We also were the construction manager on two of the major projects; the Psychiatric Observation Unit at St. Joseph and the Behavioral Outpatient Clinic at the Clifton Building. Both projects will allow Ascension/Via Christi to better serve our community! We are thankful for partners like Ascension/Via Christi and the services they provide to our communities and our families!
